Derrick is a Peoria County native who has been with AMT since it began operations in Peoria in 1991.
He graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Automotive Technology. Initially working for various industry leaders in the Peoria area.
Over the 30 plus years with AMT, Derrick has been factory trained in Bio-medical equipment repairs from leaders in the industry [Zoll, Physio-Control] in both patient handling and monitoring.
Working with multiple industry testing for cutting edge driver monitoring systems and patient safety systems. Derrick is always looking for improvements in Safety.
Derrick has used his skills throughout the industry as a member of numerous manufacturer roundtable discussions on the design and safety of Emergency Vehicles. Derrick is considered an industry expert in vehicle design and safety specializing in EMS electrical systems and radio communications. He also serves AMT as the expert in Illinois Department of Public Health rules and regulations.
He also maintains his Certification Ambulance Compliance Officer [CACO] since 2016.
In 2014, his “Concept Truck” ambulances featured design innovations that are now industry standard.
Derrick and his wife live in rural Trivoli. They have 3 grown daughters and one
grandchild. In his free time Derrick enjoys outdoor activities including hunting, fishing and grilling.
Derrick's is currently responsible for Fleet, Safety, Logistics, IDPH compliance and Operations.
